Russiarussiarussia, a winning 3-year-old New York-bred daughter of Bernardini, sold for $35,000 Thursday at the Keeneland horses of racing age sale in Lexington.

Danny Caldwell, a frequent leading owner in the Southwest region including at Remington Park, Oaklawn Park and Prairie Meadows , purchased Russiarussiarussia from ELiTE, agent. Offered as Hip 5188, Russiarussiarussia was bred by Vineyard Racing LLC and Godolphin and is out of the winning Medaglia d’Oro mare Katama. She was foaled at Hickory Hill Farm Thoroughbreds in Fort Edward.

A $70,000 purchase at the 2020 Fasig-Tipton Select Yearling Showcase and a $310,000 buy at the 2021 OBS April sale of 2-year-olds in training, Russiarussiarussia went 1-1-2 in six starts for owner Doubledown Stables Inc. and trainer Chad Brown. She won a 1 1/16-mile turf maiden June 4 at Belmont Park before a third in an allowance at the same distance on the turf at Saratoga in mid-July.

Russiarussiarussia is one of three winners out of Katama, along with Katama Bay and Bump. She is also the dam of the 2-year-old New York-bred colt Makar, who has placed twice in two starts on the NYRA circuit including Thursday at Aqueduct. Katama is the dam of a yearling New York-bred colt by Palace Malice bred by Vineyard Racing LLC.

Russiarussiarussia was one of the five New York-breds sold at the sale from eight through the ring for a total of $82,000 and an average price of $16,400.
