McMahon Stallion Show Set for January 2

Friday, December 11th, 2015

mcmahon-logoMcMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds announced their Annual Stallion Show will be held Saturday, January 2 at the Stallion Barn. The open house will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Food and refreshments will be available throughout the day. The McMahon family is looking forward to meeting with breeders to review mating plans for breeders’ broodmares, and showing the McMahon stallions.

New for 2016 is the Graded stakes winning two year old Major Gain. The son of More Than Ready won the G3 Arlington-Washington Futurity, and was placed in the G2 Kentucky Jockey Club. He is the only son of More Than Ready standing in NY.

Second year stallion Central Banker bred 115 mares in 2015, so there are quite a few mare owners anxious to see him. A handsome G2 winning son of Speightstown, Central Banker’s first book reflected a C.I. of 1.47 and C.P.I. of 1.81.

Here Comes Ben, by Street Cry, is the leading Freshman two-year-old sire in the North East by number of winners. His two year old average is $76,900 per head, is the highest for any NY stallion. Champion sire Teuflesberg “covered a great book of mares in 2015, his second year standing at McMahon,” Joe McMahon added, “the stellar year for Scat Daddy, also by Johannesburg, has not gone unnoticed by NY breeders.” Rounding out the roster, is Grade 1 millionaire The Cliff’s Edge, a very useful son of champion sprinter Gulch.
