Heavy Breathing (Giant’s Causeway / Takesmybreathaway [Gone West]), a 4-year-old full-brother to last year’s leading and record-breaking New York freshman sire Frost Giant, will enter stud in 2014 at Dutchess Views Farm in Pine Plains for a fee to be announced at a later date.

Bred in Kentucky by Manganaro LLC and purchased by Starlight Partners for $150,000 as a Keeneland September yearling in 2010, Heavy Breathing won his first two career starts on dirt at Gulfstream by a combined 12 lengths. Third next out in the Grade 3 Spiral S. on the Turfway Polytrack, two starts later he was beaten a neck in the Lamplighter S. on turf at Monmouth Park. He retires with two wins, two seconds and a third from seven starts and earnings of $124,441.

Todd Pletcher, who trained the colt for Starlight, said, “A very attractive individual, Heavy Breathing showed great promise with his ability over a variety of distances and track surfaces.”

Heavy Breathing will stand for a partnership that includes Andrew Cohen’s Sunset Stables LLC, Gary Tolchin’s Golden Goose Enterprises LLC and Well Found Management LLC.

Cohen said, “With Frost Giant’s continuing success, including recent stakes winners West Hills Giant and Frosty Bay, we decided to bring Heavy Breathing to New York and hope he will offer another great opportunity for New York breeders who have supported Frost Giant and helped make him such a success.”
