The session topper on the final day of the weeklong run of the Keeneland January sale was a short yearling colt by turf champion Kitten’s Joy. One of the last to come under the hammer, the chestnut New York-bred (Hip 1850) was purchased by Greendale Bloodstock for $100,000 from the consignment of Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency (Agent).

Bred by N.Y. Kitten Foals LLC, the March yearling is the first foal from Esther Got Even, a winning daughter of Stephen Got Even and full sister to multiple stakes-placed Debbie Got Even. The colt’s third dam Via Borghese (Seattle Dancer), a multiple graded stakes winner ($679,657), won the 1994 edition of the Grade 2 Diana Handicap at Belmont Park. The sales colt is Breeders’ Cup nominated.

Early in the sale’s first session, Patsy Symons’ Gitchee Goomie brought the top price for an older New York-bred, selling as a racing/broodmare prospect to Adena Springs for $250,000. Read more.
