Keane Stud Operations LLC announced on Thursday the addition of New York’s leading freshman sire Frost Giant to their 2013 stallion roster.

Owned by Sunset Stables LLC, the 9-year-old son of Giant’s Causeway is New York’s leading freshman sire, ranks sixth on North America’s First Crop Sire list and is currently second among all New York sires by juvenile earnings.

Winslow Stevens, DVM and General Manager of Keane Stud in Amenia, said, “We are proud to announce the addition of such a popular young sire to our stallion roster. Frost Giant was a Group winner at two and three in Ireland and a New York Grade 1 winner on dirt. He certainly appears to be passing on his precocity and versatility to his runners.”

From his first crop Frost Giant is the sire of stakes winner West Hills Giant, winner of the $247,338-added New York Breeders’ Futurity run at six furlongs as well as a 1 1/16-mile turf race at Saratoga. Another stakes horse for the young sire, Zekes Surprise, was third in the Aristie Stakes at Saratoga after a win at Belmont, both run over the main track.

Frost Giant, who entered stud in 2009, will stand for $7,500 live foal in 2013. For further information, please contact Keane Stud (845) 373-9601.
