New York sire Stonesider will relocate to Valor Farm in Pilot Point, Texas for the 2017 breeding season. The striking-looking 13-year-old chestnut son of Giant’s Causeway entered stud in New York in 2008 and stood most recently at Keane Stud for a fee of $5,000.

Stonesider is owned by Bob and Janice McNair, whose stallion Congaree also relocated to Valor Farm and who, according to the DRF, are consolidating their stallion interests.

Campaigned by the McNairs under the banner of Stonerside Stable, Stonesider won his lone start for trainer Todd Pletcher, a 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight at Belmont at two in 1:03.32.

Stonesider’s dam is Added Gold, a daughter of Gilded Time, who won the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan, earned $222,000 and produced five winners. Her dam Added Elegance (Stutz Blackhawk) was likewise a graded winner.

The star of Stonesider’s offspring is New York-bred sprinter Galiana, a winner of five stakes at Delaware Park and Pimlico Racetrack and a graded stakes performer. To date the mare has earned $641,861. Stonesider also sired Pennsylvania-bred stakes winner Hey Kiddo and New York-bred stakes winners Sinistra and May Shares.

Suzie O’Cain who managed both Stonesider’s and Congaree’s stud careers for the McNairs while they stood in New York, said, “Stonesider was the first son of Giant’s Causeway to stand in New York and it was a great pleasure to stand him at stud. He has such a great temperament! I really want thank the McNairs for the privilege.”

Continued O’Cain, “He will be very happy at Valor Farm. I think it’s a great spot for him and [former stablemate] Congaree is there, too! I know that several good mares have already been earmarked for him.”
