The New York-bred six-figure haul continued Tuesday during the second session of the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October yearling sale.

Hip 772, a colt by top New York-based sire Mission Impazible, led the way for the state on a $100,000 bid from West Point Thoroughbreds late in the session. Bred by Twin Creeks Farm and The New Hill Farm LLC, foaled at The New Hill Farm in Hoosick Falls and consigned by Peter O’Callaghan’s Woods Edge Farm, the colt is out of the stakes-winning Teuflesberg mare Wizardry.

The six-figure colt is the fifth foal out of Wizardry, a five-time winner who earned $139,882. She’s also the dam of the winning New York-bred Graydar mare Gray Witch and her 2019 colt by Constitution sold for $335,000 at the 2020 Keeneland September yearling sale through the Woods Edge consignment.

The $100,000 sale helped continue the strong momentum for New York-breds during Tuesday’s record-setting session. Fasig-Tipton reported sales on 21 of the 23 New York-breds offered for a total of $607,500, an average price of $28,929 and median of $20,000. Halfway through the sale, 39 of the 44 New York-breds through the ring have sold for a total of $1,138,700, an average price of $29,197 and median of $20,000.

The second most expensive New York-bred sold Tuesday was Hip 402, a filly by the late and former leading New York-based freshman sire Laoban, who brought $65,000 from Deuce Greathouse and Pova Vida Racing.

Bred by Southern Equine Stables, foaled at Irish Hill Century Farm in Stillwater and consigned by Bluewater Sales, the filly is the second foal out of the unraced Tapizar mare Winsanity. She’s a half-sister to the New York-bred Bodemeister gelding The Man to See who won an open maiden special weight Oct. 8 at Laurel Park in his second start.

The sale continues with the third session starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
