Quartet of NY-breds set for FT July Sale

Stakes-placed Behind The Couch and 2020 winner Impetuous and two other New York-breds will go through the ring Monday at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July horses of racing age sale.

The quartet was part of a group of nine New York-breds originally cataloged to sell at the single-day sale in Lexington.

Behind The Couch, a winner in seven starts and third in the 2019 Bouwerie Stakes at Belmont Park, sells as Hip 12. Consigned by Gainesway, agent, the 4-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro out of the Tapit mare Tapitbythesea is a half sister to winner Driftwood from the family of Shackleford, Lady Joanne and Uncle Lino. The first New York-bred to sell will be Hip 7, the unraced 3-year-old Flatter filly Arctic Fox. Consigned by Denali Stud, agent, the filly out of the stakes-winning Not For Love mare Stowe White sold for $140,000 at the 2018 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga New York-bred yearling sale. Denali also sells Impetuous, cataloged as Hip 54. A 3-year-old son of Fast Anna, Impetuous sold for $130,000 at the 2018 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga New York-bred sale and he’s won one of five with a third for $48,120 in earnings.

Impetuous, a maiden winner Jan. 25 at Aqueduct, finished 10th in a 6-furlong state-bred allowance on the grass June 20 at Belmont Park. He’s out of the Successful Appeal mare Roxy Dancer, a half sister to Grade 3 winner Declan’s Warrior and stakes winner Canonize. (Hip 54 past performances)

The final New York-bred remaining in the sale through Saturday scratches will be Hip 93, the unraced 3-year-old Empire Maker colt Robber Baron. A $225,000 buy at the 2018 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga New York-bred sale, Robber Baron is out of multiple stakes winner and $534,850-earner Toasting. (Hip 93 past performances)

The sale, which featured an original catalog of 182 horses before scratches, begins at 4 p.m. EDT Monday.
