Patricia Purdy, who bred Breeders’ Cup Marathon winner London Bridge[1], told Tom Law in a feature article on the “This Is Horse Racing” website, “It was pretty exciting, regardless of everything we heard, all the ‘he should have been scratched’ talk and things like that. One thing we did know was that he at least was a stayer in that group of horses.” Purdy, who kept up with the colt’s early career abroad the best she could, also described the interesting surprise she got after she purchased his dam Kindness, namely that the mare’s breeder was Queen Elizabeth II.
