Thread the Needle, a winning New York-bred daughter of Tale of the Cat selling in foal to Knicks Go, landed a final bid of $45,000 Monday to highlight the Book 5 offerings at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale.

Consigned by Lisa and Tim Turney, agent, as Hip 2985[2], Thread the Needle was purchased by Expoline Co. Ltd.

Bred by James Lamonica, Lee Sacks and Soave Stables and foaled at Rockridge Stud in Hudson, Thread the Needle originally sold as a weanling for $175,000 at the 2015 Keeneland November sale. She later brought $230,000 at the 2016 Keeneland September yearling sale before going 1-3-1 in nine starts with earnings of $75,938.

A half-sister to New York-bred stakes winners The Lewis Dinner and Kelly Got Frosty and the New York-bred stakes-placed duo of Frosty Gal and Princess Phoebe, Thread the Needle is out of the Jump Start mare Nick’s Honor. Thread the Needle is the dam of a yearling filly by Cairo Prince bred by Andrew Warren.

Hip 2672[3], the stakes-placed Boys At Tosconova mare Bertranda, sold for $37,000 to K.O.I.D. during Monday’s session. Offered in foal to Tapwrit from Zach Madden’s Buckland Sales consignment, the 8-year-old is out of Princess Maura.

A $15,000 purchase at both the 2015 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Eastern fall yearling sale and 2016 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May sale of 2-year-olds in training, Bertranda won seven of 54 starts with 10 seconds and 10 thirds for earnings of $409,179 over five seasons. She finished third in the 2017 Christiana Stakes at Delaware Park.

Bred by Gus Schoenborn and foaled at Questroyal North in Stillwater, Bertranda is out of the winning Cape Canaveral mare Princess Maura. Bertranda is the dam of a New York-bred yearling filly by Leofric bred by Titletown Racing Stables and Blake Cox.

The final session of the Keeneland November sale begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Keeneland will conduct its November horses of racing age sale starting at noon Thursday.
