Weanlings foaled in New York and from the first crops of Grade 1 winners City of Light and Mendelssohn commanded six-figure bids early in Sunday’s blockbuster Fasig-Tipton Kentucky November mixed sale in Lexington.

Hip 10, a son of 2018 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile and 2019 Pegasus World Cup winner City of Light, led the way when he brought $235,000 from Brady Bloodstock.

Bred by Anlyn Farms, foaled at Irish Hill Century Farm in Stillwater and consigned by Ballysax Bloodstock, agent, the colt is out of the Mr. Greeley mare Gracilia and is a half brother to 2020 stakes winner More Mischief and stakes-placed Myawaya and four other winners. More Mischief, a $350,000 purchase as a 2-year-old in training, won the Biogio’s Rose Stakes in February at Aqueduct and has compiled a record of 4-2-2 from 10 starts with $255,493 in earnings.

Gracilia, who placed once in four starts, is out of the Hansel mare Bellona and is a half sister to New York-bred Grade 2 winner sire Sharp Humor.

Hip 9, a filly by 2017 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf and 2018 U.A.E. Derby winner Mendelssohn, brought the second most expensive price for a New York weanling when American Equistock Inc. went to $110,000.

Bred by Magnolia Mares, LLC and Pony Express Sales Inc., foaled at Sequel Stallions in Hudson and consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, the bay filly is the second foal out of the Smart Strike mare Good Omen.

Good Omen, unplaced in two starts for her breeders Gary and Mary West, is out of the Saint Liam mare Deputy Saint, a half sister to Hall of Famer, two-time Horse of the Year and Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Curlin. Magnolia Bloodstock purchased Good Omen for $40,000 at the 2018 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky February mixed sale.

Good Omen’s first foal, a New York-bred by Distorted Humor bred by Magnolia Mares, Rita Masters and Distorted Humor Syndicate, sold for $70,000 to Alan Brodsky at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic fall yearling sale in October.

Fasig-Tipton reported sales on four of the five weanlings foaled in New York for a total of $485,000, an average price of $121,250 and median of $92,500.
