Weekend Hideaway (2010), a winner of stakes races in seven consecutive years in New York was retired from racing and will stand his first season at stud in 2019 under the management of Irish Hill & Dutchess Views Stallions LLC [2]in Saratoga. Weekend Hideaway is a son of champion sprinter and emerging sire of sires, Speightstown. His dam is Apocalyptical.

Weekend Hideaway began his career as a precocious 2-year old in July 2012. Racing for Michael Hoffman’s Red and Black Stable and trained by Phil Serpe and Lisa Bartkowski, he ran three times during the Saratoga meet that year, finishing second on debut before going on to win a maiden special weight in his next start. He followed his maiden victory with a score in the David Stakes before moving on to Belmont, where he won the Bertram F. Bongard Stakes that same year.

Weekend Hideaway continued to demonstrate his speed and soundness by going on to win stakes at 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. Weekend Hideaway was a powerful sprinter, winning a total of 9 stakes races including recording a dominating 107 Beyer Speed Figure while drawing off to win the Sunshine Millions Sprint Stakes at Gulfstream Park. He also showed versatility by stretching out to a mile while capturing the Commentator Stakes at Belmont Park two times, including a nose decision over multiple grade 1 winner, Diversify, in 2017. Weekend Hideaway finished his career with a record 13-7-10 from 49 starts and career earnings of $1,144,922.

Michael Lischin from Irish Hill & Dutchess Views Stallions LLC said “The recent great news that the New York Stallion Stakes Series purse values have doubled for New York based sire’s progeny, makes a precocious sire like Weekend Hideaway especially attractive. His 2-year-olds will be eligible for purses of up to $500,000 per race and millions of dollars of enriched restricted purses thereafter.” As part of the Irish Hill & Dutchess Views Stallions LLC roster, Weekend Hideaway will stand at Irish Hill Century Farm in Stillwater, NY alongside a group that currently consists of eight stallions including four of the five leading stallions by winners in New York.
