New York-based first crop sire War Dancer was represented by his first foal this week with the birth of a colt on January 6 at Waldorf Farm[2] in North Chatham.

The youngster is out of Bruce McConnell and Linda McConnell’s Sadie’s Song, an unplaced Kentucky-bred runner by Unbridled’s Song. The colt’s second dam Sharp Eyes is a half-sister to Gaelic Queen, a group performer in Ireland. His third dam Gaelic Bird is a multiple group winner in France.

Sadie’s Song’s first foal, J C’s Not Brown by Big Brown is a multiple winner on turf and six-figure earner. The newborn is her fifth New York offspring.

War Dancer, a multiple graded stakes-winning son of War Front and millionaire, stands at Lere Visagie’s Rockridge Stud[3] in Hudson for a 2018 fee of $7,500. According data from The Jockey Club, War Dancer bred 102 mares in 2017.
