Rockridge Stud in Hudson has announced 2017 stud fees for its stallions:

D’ Funnybone $2,500
Giant Surprise $5,000
Honorable Dillon $5,000
Micromanage $5,000

The farm will host its annual Stallion Show on Saturday, January 28.

Both D’ Funnybone and Giant Surprise were represented by two stakes winners apiece in 2016. Honorable Dillon’s first crop of foals were well-received at auction, selling for as much as $45,000, with an average over $18,000. Freshman sire Soaring Empire already has two winners from just seven starters in 2016. Micromanage will welcome his first foals in 2017, and Trinniberg will have his first 2-year-olds in 2017. Millionaire newcomer War Dancer will have limited availability for lifetime breeding rights.

Posse (2000, Silver Deputy – Raska by Rahy) was purchased earlier this fall by Haras Rapetti, where the stallion is currently standing for the Southern Hemisphere breeding season. Attempts were made to bring the stallion back to New York for the 2017 breeding season; however, the parties could not come to terms.

“We are very disappointed. Posse was an important horse in New York and he had a big year,” says Rockridge Stud’s Lere Visagie, owner/manager of Rockridge Stud. Posse has sired 6 stakes winners in 2016 with 10 stakes wins to their credit – including graded stakes winner Mind Your Biscuits, who finished third in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Sprint.
