In just her second start, Sisella drew away by 10 3/4 lengths on a sloppy track to become Boys At Tosconova‘s first winner as a sire in an Oct. 1 maiden claiming event for 2-year-old fillies at Laurel Park.

Danny Limongelli’s Sisella, ridden by Angel Serpa, sat just off the pace three-wide and then took the lead about a quarter-mile from the wire. The filly defeated a field of nine other challengers for trainer Hugh McMahon after finishing seventh in her Aug. 24 debut at Saratoga.

Bred by Howard Nolan in New York, Sisella is out of the unraced Golden Missile mare Countyourblessings.

Lightly raced Boys At Tosconova won the Three Chimney’s Hopeful Stakes (gr. I) as a 2-year-old and went on to finish second in the 2010 Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (gr. I) to that year’s 2-year-old male champion Uncle Mo, who is currently the leading second-crop sire and ranks second on the general sire list behind Tapit.

Boys At Tosconova retired as a 4-year-old and was syndicated. He entered stud in 2013 at Questroyal North in New York, where he has stood since. The son of Officer out of the Coronado’s Quest mare Little Bonnet, stood 2016 for a $2,500 fee.
