Although three of the five New York-breds catalogued to sell during the prestigious opening book of the marathon Keeneland September yearling sale were scratched, the trading on the first three days of the 13-session sale still produced a standout in the form of Hip 250[2], a colt by Giant’s Causeway who fetched $220,000 in Tuesday’s second session.

Bred by Pine Ridge Stables Ltd, Hip 250 is the first registered foal out of Choice Pearl a Kentucky-bred placed runner by Any Given Saturday. Pine Ridge purchased the mare for $165,000 at the 2013 Keenland November sale. Her extended family can boast such luminaries as Grade 1 winners Awesome Humor, Emcee (also a sire) and Constitution. The colt was purchased by Ben Glass, Agent from the Paramount Sales consignment.

In all, eight New York-bred are scheduled to come under the hammer in Keeneland’s second book. The schedule for the remaining sessions is as follows:

Dark Day on Thursday, Sept. 15. No sale will be held.
Friday-Saturday, Sept. 16-17. Book 2 sessions begin at 10 a.m.
Sunday-Sunday, Sept. 18-25. Book 3-6 sessions begin at 10 a.m.

Saratoga Fall sale catalogue now online

Saratoga Fall Sale[1]Edited Press Release

Fasig-Tipton has catalogued 319 entries for The Saratoga Fall Sale, the company’s mixed sale annually held in Saratoga Springs.  The single-session sale will be conducted Monday, October 17 at the Humphrey S. Finney Pavilion beginning at 10 am.

The sale will begin with approximately 106 in-foal mares and racing/broodmare prospects, followed by 34 yearlings and 179 weanlings.

“The New York-Bred program continues to thrive and the Saratoga Fall Sale has established itself as a popular venue for both active and new participants in the program,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. “This year’s catalogue features a significant number of mares in foal to proven and up-and-coming young sires, and the large group of weanlings should prove popular once again with both regional and national buyers.”

The catalogue is now available online[2] and in the equineline sales catalogue app.  Print catalogues will be available by September 21.
