Bank Heist, a half-brother to multiple Grade 1 winner and 2007 champion sprinter Midnight Lute, got his first winner Wednesday in impressive fahion when Pennsylvania-bred juvenile filly Behrnik’s Bank bested nine rivals in her debut to win the third race at Penn National Race Course by 18 1/2 lengths.

A homebred for Peter Kazamias trained by Dimitrios Synnefias, Behrnik’s Bank led every step of the way under jockey Edwin Gonzalez. Out of stakes-placed Chimes Band mare Behrnik, who has produced four winners from four starters, Behrnik’s Bank completed six furlongs in 1:09.64.

Bank Heist, who entered his stud career in 2012 at Peter Kazamias’ Kaz Hill Farm in Middletown is a dark bay son of Maria’s Mon out of the unraced Dehere mare Candytuft who commanded $900,000 at the 2007 Keeneland September Yearling sale. All six of Candytuft’s foals to start are winners, with sprint champion Midnight Lute, by Real Quiet heading the family ($2,690,600).
