FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Fox Rules won the $50,000 Genesee Valley Breeders’ Stakes for the second consecutive year. He scored a convincing victory in the 36th renewal of the event for older New York-breds at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack (FLGR) on Saturday.

The M. Anthony Ferraro-trainee completed the one mile and one-sixteenth distance of the fourth race in a final time of 1:44.83. He was guided to the six and one-half length triumph by Pedro Rodriguez.

The 6-year-old gelding owned by Langpap Stables has won nine of his ten FLGR starts including the $160,800 New York Derby in 2012. He was voted FLGR Horse of the Year in 2014 after a successful season at his home track.

Fox Rules scored his 12th career win to improve his lifetime earnings to a sum of $403,455 and paid $7.30, $3.10 and $2.80. Crackerjack Jones finished second and returned $3.60 and $3.30. Show King rallied to be third and paid $4.10.

The Genesee Valley Breeders’ Association (GVBA) is the oldest thoroughbred breeding organization in the United States. The GVBA awards program is administered by the New York Breeding and Development Fund Corporation, and it continues to provide monies for breeders and stallion awards as well as enhanced purses for registered New York-breds.*

New York-bred 2-year olds will take center stage in the next rich races on the 2015 stakes schedule. The Lady Finger Stakes and the Aspirant Stakes are slated to be run on Friday, September 18. The annual events each have an estimated purse of over $100,000.
