Colt by Mission Impazible leads Empire-breds in OBS August opener

A yearling colt from the first crop of New York sire Mission Impazible[2] topped the eight New York-breds who sold in the selected portion of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2015 August Yearling Sale on Tuesday.

Hip 183[3], a chestnut bred by Sequel Thoroughbreds & JMJ Racing Stables and foaled last February 14, went to Dominic Brennan, agent for Highland Yard LLC for $95,000 from the consignment of Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck).

Out of Andora Springs, a multiple winner by Capote, the sale colt is a half-brother to six winners, topped by stakes performer Bandora, by Dixieland Band. There is abundant black type under the second dam Andora, who is a half-sister to two stakes winners. She has also produced three stakes winners in her own right, including graded winner Luftikus, who earned nearly $500,000, and stakes winner Diversa, dam of Grade 1 winner Lovethewayyouare. Other graded winners in the extended family include Street Sounds and Saint Anddan.

Mission Impazible, a multiple Grade 2-winning millionaire by Unbridled’s Song out of the multiple graded stakes-producing mare La Paz, stands at Sequel Stallions New York[4] in Hudson. His 2015 stud fee was $7,500.

The eight New York-breds who sold of 10 offered in the select session of the sale averaged $42,500 with a median 35,000. The average price for the general population of the sale was $45,896 compared with $46,063 last year, while the median was $35,000, identical to 2014.

The sale continues Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the first of two Open sessions. It will again be streamed live via the OBS, Blood-Horse and Daily Racing Form websites.
