FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Frisky Warrior won the 31st renewal of the $50,000 George W. Barker Stakes at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack (FLGR) on Friday. The 6-year-old gelding owned and trained by Ralph D’Alessandro [and bred by Ted Taylor Thoroughbreds] took the six furlong dash for New York-breds 3-years-old and upward in a final time of 1:10.52.

The 2013 FLGR Horse of the Year stalked the early pace under jockey Jaime Rodriguez before surging passed his rivals in the stretch. He went on to win the eighth race by a margin of three and one-half lengths.

The chestnut gelding achieved the victory over a sloppy surface that was caused by a downpour during the sixth race. He has had a successful history in wet conditions and now has four wins in five starts on wet tracks.

Frisky Warrior registered his 14th victory in his 37th career start and improved his lifetime earnings to a sum of $306,228. He was the second choice in the wagering and paid $8.80, $3.10 and $2.60. Marriedtothemusic overcame a slow start to be second and returned $3.20 and $2.70. Bigshotinthenews rallied to be third and paid $6.40.
