Former NYTB lobbyist Edward A. Bogdan Jr. passes away

Edward A. Bogdan Jr., Esq., a former lobbyist for the New York Thoroughbred Breeders, Inc. died on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 in Naples, Florida. Born in Amsterdam, New York on July 4, 1930, he was the son of Dr. Edward A. Bogdan and Valeria Olbrycht Bogdan.

Bogdan graduated from Amsterdam High School in 1948 and Harvard College in 1952, after which he served in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1955 earning the rank of petty officer third class. Following his tour of duty in the Navy, Bogdan attended Albany Law School, where he was editor-in-chief of the Albany Law Review in his senior year and valedictorian of the class of 1959.

Practicing law in the Albany area, and pursuing an interest in representing clients before the New York State Legislature, Bogdan built the fourth largest lobbying firm in New York State and is best remembered for his representation of New York-based banks, New York Thoroughbred Breeders, Merrill Lynch, the California Wine Institute and his defense of the Wicks Law. He retired to Naples in 2000.
