Open house and stallion show season in full swing

The next few weekends offer a full slate of one-day and two-day open houses and stallion shows at New York farms, including opportunities to win stallion seasons.

The list below may help visitors plan their schedules.

Saturday, January 18:

Keane Stud, located at 217 Depot Hill Road in Amenia, will hold its Stallion Open House on Saturday, January 18. Winslow B. Stevens, DVM, General Manager, and Philippe Lasseur, Farm Manager, invite visitors to drop by any time between 12:00 and 4:00 p.m. A light lunch will be served. Saturday, January 25:

Mill Creek Farm, located at 1019 County Road 70 in Stillwater, will be hosting an Open House and Stallion Show on Saturday January 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Light fare will be served and there will be a drawing for a free breeding to Simmard. For more information: call 518-584-9457, email Anne@MillCreekSaratoga.com or contact Antonio Francesco at 917-684-9799.

Sequel Stallions New York, located at 167 Maple Lane in Hudson, will unveil its new stallion complex and hold its open house on Saturday, January 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch will be served at noon and there will be an opportunity to win stallion seasons. Saturday and Sunday, January 25-26:

McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds, located at 180 Fitch Road in Saratoga Springs, will be open to breeders on January 25 and 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Owners Joe and Ann McMahon said that visitors are welcome to stop by either day when it was most convenient. Questroyal North, located at 58 Dunn Road in Stillwater, will hold its second annual stallion show on January 25 and 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Questroyal will introduce new sire Bridgetown and there will be a drawing for one free season each to Bridgetown and Boys At Tosconova. Saratoga Stud (formerly Highcliff Stallions), located at 224 Burke Road in Stillwater, will hold its inaugural Stallion Show on January 25-26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. C. Lynwood O’Cain, DVM, stallion marketing and promotions director Suzie O’Cain, and partner Rick Burke will introduce the new stallion complex. Lunch will be available to visitors both days. Saturday, February 1

Rockridge Stud, owned and operated by Lere Visagie and located at 5384 Rt 9H/23 in Hudson, will host its inaugural stallion show on Saturday, February 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A full lunch buffet will be served and each attendee will be eligible to win a free season to one of the farm’s 2014 stallions as well as other door prizes.
