Darley announced on Wednesday that Girolamo, Godolphin’s five-year-old Grade 1-winning son of A.P. Indy, will stand the 2012 breeding season at Becky Thomas and Dennis Narlinger’s newly-reopened Sequel Stallions New York[2] in Hudson for a fee to be announced at a later date.

Girolamo is out of Get Lucky, a Grade 3-winning daughter of Mr. Prospector, who produced eight winners out of eight foals to race, including Grade 2-winner Daydreaming, a full sister to Girolamo, and graded winner Accelerator, a full brother. Girolamo’s full sister Supercharger is the dam of 2010 Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver. Another full sister She’s a Winner is the dam of top second-crop sire Bluegrass Cat, who will also be standing in the Empire State in 2012 at Vinery New York[3] at Sugar Maple.

A debut maiden-breaker at Saratoga as a juvenile going seven furlongs, Girolamo delivered his best on-track performances at three and four. He reeled off three straight wins to start his sophomore campaign, including the one-mile Grade 2 Jerome Handicap at Belmont. At four he won the Grade 1 Vosburgh and, in his last career start, finished third in the 2010 renewal of the Grade 1 Cigar Mile, finishing just one-half length behind the winner and scoring a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 110. Girolamo’s five career wins at two, three and four, came at distances from six furlongs to a mile and he is the only offspring of Champion sire A. P. Indy to win a Grade 1 race at six furlongs. He retired with earnings totaling $443,800.

Charlie Boden, Darley America’s Head of Sales said, “Girolamo is a horse with tremendous potential on all fronts. He was a dominant racehorse with speed and class and is a Grade 1 winner from a tremendous Phipps family.  Once you get to take a look at him physically you’ll understand why we’re thrilled about his future.  We are extremely excited that Sequel Stallions will be standing him for us in New York in 2012.”

Girolamo will be is available for inspection at Darley’s Jonabell Farm in Lexington during the upcoming Fasig-Tipton and Keeneland breeding stock sales.
