Vinery Further Expands NY Operation to Sugar Maple

(edited Press Release)

Howard and Susan Kaskel’s Sugar Maple Farm[1] in Poughquag, New York will become a part of Vinery, according to an announcement made by Vinery President Tom Ludt.  A top class facility which has been home to a number of outstanding racehorses, Sugar Maple is the second farm in New York to be operated under the Vinery banner since Vinery took over Empire Stud last November.

“We are very excited about expanding our operation in New York,” said Ludt.   “When we took on Empire Stud, we had no idea that the opportunity to expand further with a quality facility like Sugar Maple would come along. The farm is very picturesque and, in fact, was designed by the same architect that designed Vinery’s Kentucky farm, so there is a striking similarity between the facilities.”

Horses raised at Sugar Maple include Irish Derby winner Sir Harry Lewis, as well as Champions Sky Beauty and Itsallgreektome.

“We are very excited about the opportunities the New York Breeders programs generate as well as the future of New York racing,” added Ludt.
