On Wednesday February 3rd, the Senate Committee on Investigations and Government Operations (Craig M. Johnson, Chair) and Senate Committee on Racing Gaming and Wagering (Eric Adams, Chair) held a public hearing “To investigate the viability of thoroughbred racing in New York State and compare it to the performance of racing enterprises in other states.” Jeffrey Cannizzo, Executive Director of NYTB, presented testimony on the vital importance of the racing program in New York to the State’s breeders.

Jeff,
Great work yet again. Please keep fighting for us….
Jeff,
We are blessed to have you at the helm. Thank you for your outstanding work on the frontlines.
With thanks and appreciation, Susan Kayne & The Team @ UR Stable
A well spoken, honest testimony Jeff, Good work !!!
Thanks for all your hard work Jeff. All you say is right on target.
Your testimony was right on target and quite frightening. We need to do more. Please urge all our members to contact their Albany representatives individually. for those of us who don’t know our representatives in Albany, possibly put a list together – similar to the list of NY Sires that are on our website. Each one of us should participate in the positioning of this industry moving forward. The consequence of inaction in the matter of VLTs, OTB bankruptcy/breeders rewards, etc are far reaching and I’m afraid dire.
Your closing couple paragraphs were especially important and hopefully were taken to heart. Great Job. I still think we should be organizing a small group of members that go to Albany to lobby. Now is the time and our legislators need to see us, not just our paid staff, in the capital.
Diane,
You are absolutely correct, everyone needs to be raising their voice. My NYTB efforts in Albany every week need everyone’s support to defend our grounds. Our website offers exactly what your mentioning for contacting your representatives. Please see this page for everything you need to do so: Public Affairs Additionally, watch for news on our Belmont Rally event in late March…
Regards, Jeff Cannizzo
